Belagavi: a girl who had filed a sexual harassment complaint against the bus conductor under Pocso Act in the Belagavi ticket row over language last week, sought Tuesday to withdraw the plant. Her parents insisted “they too are fans of Kannada” in a bid to ease the flare-up across the border.
The conductor, who had requested the girl to speak in Kannada while buying tickets was assaulted , allegedly by a group of Marathi-speaking people. Following the incident, both Karnataka and Maharashtra had suspended bus services.
Cross-border MSRTC services continue to be affected on the 4th day after an MSRTC driver was harassed by pro -Kannada activist in Karnataka. Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik said government is considering deploying Cops on buses and resuming services to Karnataka. Karnataka government, meanwhile transferred policeman Gururaj Kalyan Shetti on charges of dereliction of duty and filing a Pocso case without initial inquiry.
