Priest sells temple land to Mandir Trust (TOI/08/03/25)

Uttar Pradesh Police have registered a case against priest Ramakant Pathak for allegedly selling the property of Naya Anand Bhavan temple in Ayodhya to Ram Mandir Trust through fraudulent means. The complaint was filed by the temple’s caretaker who claim the property was an ancient religious asset that couldn’t be transferred for personal games. Ramakant was the temple priest in the past but remove because of his alleged misconduct. Despite of a 2016 Court order that asked him to vacate the temple premises, he stayed on and later conspired with revenue officials to transfer the temple land to his name, the complaint States. On September 21, 2024,he reportedly soon 21,198. 8 sqft of Temple land to Sri Ram Janam Bhoomi Teerth Kshetra, the Ram Temple Trust for rupees 6 crore using forged documents.
